ABOUT THE PROJECT

Dogs-Heroes of Ukraine is a private project founded in 2023 that tells stories of dogs who, on an equal footing with and together with a person or independently, have committed a heroic act.

In 2023-2024, the title & medal with an individual number "Dog-Hero of Ukraine" were awarded to: private dogs, as well as four-legged employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the National Police,  The Rapid Operational Response Unit (KORD), the State Security Administration, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Marine Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National School of Service Dog Training of the "International Police Corporation for Public Safety", the DOG HELPS to LIVE volunteer group, the Command of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Azart dog rescue unit and the Pavlohrad search and rescue dog unit "Antares" in cooperation with the humanitarian mission of the "On the Shield" project of the Civil-Military Cooperation CIMIC of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.


Searching for weapons, drugs, explosives, perimeter security during drone launches, protecting the first persons of various countries of the world, help with recovery from PTSD - these are just a part of the important work performed by four-legged heroes.


Presentation of the award to the tailed heroes with a gratitude to their handlers/owners and gifts takes place every year in December during the "Dogs-Heroes of Ukraine" award ceremony.

The author, organizer and designer of the project is an international economist, holder of the National Record of Ukraine "The Longest Edible Treat for Dogs" and the title "Pride of Ukraine" in the nomination Brand of the Year 2020 according to the Millennium Media Holding, graphic designer, former TV presenter and press secretary of the People's Deputy of Ukraine and the State Corporation Ukrspetsexport, author of the World Japanese Spitz Day holiday and member of the World Dog Press Association Yulia Stryzhkina.

Co-organizer of the project is Serhiy Bondaryuk - a FCI-UKU judge, creator and ex-director of the Cynological Center of the President of Ukraine, head of the Cynological Service of the President of Ukraine for 5 years.
Commander of a group of specialists of the Dog Service of the National Guard of Ukraine, the Presidential Regiment and the special unit "White Panther" for 11 years. Participated in hot spots of the USSR. Specialist in training dogs in such areas as: tracking work, searching for weapons and explosives and work in assault groups.

Owner of the Heruvim kennel, whose graduates are World Champions, Vice & European Champions, Interchampions, etc.

Awarded: the Iron Cross of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine; the badge of the 129th separate battalion of the Territorial Defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "Dignity and Honor", the medal "Honor. Glory. State" of the Kyiv City Council as well as the "Golden Trident" medal of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, which is awarded to military personnel and employees of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for high results in combat training, loyalty to the oath, successful leadership of subordinates, and exemplary performance of duties.

Since the first year of the project's existence, special financial support for the ceremony, thanks to which it becomes a reality, has been provided by the viewers of the YouTube channel Sheitelman (Sheitelmantsi) and personally by the well-known Israeli-Ukrainian political strategist, writer and blogger, animal lover, who himself is the owner of 2 cats, 3 rats and 2 snails - Mykhailo Sheitelman.

A popular Ukrainian actor, a man who saves a huge number of furry lives by personally going on dangerous evacuation trips to hot spots, the man who is called the Bearded CATMOMMY - Oleksiy Surovtsev agreed to support the project and present awards to the participants in 2024.
